The inflammation of the lungs is an infection of the airways, which is usually caused by viruses and bacteria, and rarely by fungi. Despite the advances in the diagnosis and therapy, the pneumonia even today is a major health problem and may be a cause of death, especially in the elderly, chemotherapy patients, small children…
Moreover, the development of the pneumonia may be stimulated by smoking, air pollution and alcoholism. The winter is especially suitable for the disease and the best way to prevent pneumonia is to strengthen the immune system, which can be achieved by the use of bee products, different herbs and medicines from the kitchen.
Signs and Symptoms of Pneumonia
As in the case of other viruses and bacterial infections, the pneumonia is also followed by some general symptoms such as high temperature, fever, exhaustion, sweating, loss of appetite, pain in the muscles and joints, headaches.
The coughing, difficulties with the breathing are almost always present and you can also feel stabbing pain and pain in the chest during the breathing. Also, there might be blood in the saliva.
The inflammation of the lungs usually follows after a common cold or infection of the upper airways, and if the infection goes down to the trachea, bronchi and the pulmonary tissue, it may develop into bronchitis or pneumonia.
Besides the viral form of the pneumonia, the cause of the infection may be a large number of bacteria, which more frequently occurs in older people. The occurrence of pneumonia in children and adults indicates to a weakened immunity and it is a sign that you need to work on its strengthening with proper diet and healthy lifestyle.
Sometimes, especially in older people, the lung inflammation can occur without the typical symptoms such as cough and high temperature, so the affected person does not go to the doctor on time. Then there is a risk to develop sepsis, which is dangerous.
People with higher risk of sepsis are the diabetics, those who had a heart attack or stroke, as well as small children, who do not have fully developed immune system.
People who are at increased risk of getting pneumonia should be vaccinated, which is not a 100% protection, but if you combine it with the changes in the diet, you can achieve excellent prevention from viruses and bacteria which cause diseases.
It is recommended that the diet should be based on herbal products or fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains, legumes, cold pressed vegetable oils, seeds, nuts, and you should avoid refined foods and fried foods, processed meat products, sugar, white flour, refined oils.
It is also necessary to avoid the food that stimulates the formation of mucus in the organism, primarily the milk and dairy products, and other animal products. If you want to save the health of the lungs, you should certainly quit smoking.
You should enrich the diet with products rich in vitamin C (cabbage, broccoli, lemon and other citrus fruits), zinc (pumpkin seeds, millet, fish), and magnesium (wholegrain cereals, nuts, legumes).
When it comes to the strengthening of the immune system, we must not forget the importance of the quality sleep, the exercise and the fresh air.
Help From the Nature
Take 4 teaspoons of coltsfoot leaves, add a cup of boiling water and keep it covered for 30 minutes. Strain it and drink 1/3 cup, three times a day.
Mix equal parts of fresh carrot juice with milk and take it 5-6 times a day in case of a cough attack.
Wash the black radish and cut it into pieces, put it in a pan and pour sugar. “Simmer” it in the oven for two hours. Strain the mixture, let it cool off and pour it into a glass jar. Keep it in a cold place. You should take one teaspoon of it, 5-6 times a day, before going to bed and in case of cough attack.
In case of cough, you can prepare lemon balm. Take one lemon, wash it well and put it in a pot. Pour a little water and boil for 10 minutes on low heat. Take the lemon out of the water, cut it in half and squeeze the juice from the two halves. Add 2 tablespoons of glycerin in the juice. Take one teaspoon of the balm, three times a day. You can also take it at night in case of cough.
Mix 15 g of propolis with 100g of butter and take one teaspoon of it three times a day, one hour before meals or an hour and a half after a meal, with warm milk.
Take one tablespoon of dried linden, add a cup of boiling water, cover it and strain it after 20 minutes. Add a teaspoon of linden honey in the warm tea. Drink 1/3 of a cup, three times a day.
The linden honey has a strong effect against all microorganisms. In case of pneumonia, you should take it at night before sleep, in combination with warm milk or tea. Pour 1 tablespoon of honey in a cup of hot drink. For a stronger effect you can also add some lemon.
Horseradish tea to clean the lungs
In order to prepare the tea you should take 10 g of finely grated horseradish, mix it with 2 dl of boiling water and let it sit for several minutes. Then divide the liquid into 3 parts and drink it 3 times a day.
In case of cough and problems with the breathing it is recommended to grate the horseradish, mix it with natural honey and eat 1 teaspoon of it, every morning on an empty stomach.
Onions and garlic
They have antibiotic properties, especially garlic, and they are excellent fighters against the bacterial and viral infections. They are allies in the strengthening of the immune system, especially in winter.
From the onions you can make cough syrup for which you need to chop the onions, mix them with honey and keep the mixture like that for a few hours until the onions let the juice out. Strain the syrup, pour it into a glass jar and keep it in the refrigerator. You should use it several times a day.
In case of pneumonia, you can make a coating from the onions. For that, you need to simmer the onions on lard and apply that on the chest until it is still warm, cover it with a towel, wrap it with foil and let it act for several hours during the night.
Flaxseed and flaxseed oil
The flaxseed contains mucus that helps in case of coughing. Besides that, it is rich in omega – 3 fatty acids that have a strong anti-inflammatory effect, so the flaxseed oil is recommended in the treatment of pneumonia, as well as for prevention of pneumonia.
Herbal Tea Mixture #1
Take 1 teaspoon of yarrow, 1 teaspoon of coltsfoot and flowers of black elderberry, then pour a cup of boiling water and strain it after 25 minutes. Drink a quarter cup of it four times a day, half an hour before meals.
Herbal Tea Mixture #2
Take three tablespoons of the mixture of coltsfoot, primrose, elderberries, black and white marshmallow, thyme, hyssop, plantain, sage, mountain savory, oregano, and rose and pour 600 ml of boiling water. Cover it and strain it after 30 minutes. Sweeten it with honey and drink in three equal doses after meals.
Herbal Tea Mixture #3
Mix 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh plantain leaves with 3 tablespoons of honey. Keep it on a warm hotplate for 4 hours. Drink 1 teaspoon of the syrup 4 times a day, half an hour before a meal.
Herbal Tea Mixture #4
Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 2 tablespoons of fennel and a pinch of salt. Pour a cup of water over it and boil it, then strain it. Take 2 tablespoons of it on every 2 hours.
