The apple jam is a favorite for many people due to its great taste and abundance of apples. It can be prepared with sweet or sour apples, depending on what flavor you prefer.

The apple jam prepared by this recipe is tasty and healthy and you can mix it with cereals, cakes, with various pies and strudels or simply as a topping.

Necessary ingredients:

  • 750 g of grated apples
  • 250g of grated carrots
  • 100 ml of water
  • 1 bourbon vanilla sugar
  • cinnamon (optional)
  • cloves (optional)
  • juice of half a lemon or of a whole lemon

The apples contain enough sugar in them, so you do not need to add extra sugar in the jam, and such a jam is much healthier. If you still prefer the version with sugar, to the above ingredients you can add 500g of sugar, or as a healthy alternative, natural stevia sweetener.

Instructions for preparation:

You should peel and grate the apples, and chop them with a mixer or in a blender. Mix them with the other ingredients and put them in a bowl. Let the mixture boil and cook over low heat, stir occasionally for about 40 minutes. During the cooking there might be foam on the surface and you should remove it.

Keeping the jam

You should pour the jam while it is still hot into glass containers that you have previously washed and sterilized in the oven at 100-110 degrees. Close them and turn the jars upside down for a few minutes in order to create a vacuum. The jam should cool off gradually and you should keep it in a dry and cool place.
